Good win, especially as we are still without Steve Elliot, Owen Kessack, and Matt Percival to name but 3!

Excellent result with lots of positives and a far cry from the Sittingbourne game. This is the first time I have seen Danny Curd play for Town and I was impressed - very good in the air for his height and a real edge to his game. The front players all linked well and Town looked much more threatening going forward than they had against Sittingbourne. I can see them scoring far more goals than last season. The defence looked stronger too. All in all, very encouraging.

Made hard work of it. Needed a penalty, otherwise down to a last minute goal. Town will meet few sides weaker than Crawley Down this season.
Again the issue of the pyramid structure comes into focus. The County league is simply not strong enough to be a feeder to the Ryman. Any team coming up, unless they have big money like Whitehawk, will struggle.

To be fair to them, Crawley Down have lost a few players who, it appears, signed to play this season but have now crawled back to their comfort zone. But the club did appear to ignore the golden rule in that they signed no new players - it is common knowledge that there is a gap which can be bridged by 2 or 3 shrewd signings and 100% commitment.

Thanks for that info Athenian. Yes particularly hard for CD then. I used to live there with my parents so feel a bit of empathy with them. Maybe money was the issue with not signing new players.
