Do we still have a youth team? If we do it certainly doesn't get as much coverage as Pevensey in the local paper. Many years ago, during Paul Roberts reign as youth team manager,we produced a lot of players that served the club loyally and proudly.

We still have 2 Youth teams - one that is challenging strongly for the leadership of the Sussex County Youth League - next match this coming Sunday (30th January) at home to table-topping Hastings United youth.
The other team are in the upper / middle area of the Ryman Youth League - South East Division - next match on Thursday (27th January) away to table-topping Maidstone United

.........again, thanks to athenian for providing interesting info......and nice to see corinthian on here......those days of players coming through junior/youth/reserve teams AND staying put are, I think, long gone for the most part.......I believe the Manton brothers have done that with ETFC?......and Norwood and Yemi would teatify to the club's rich history.......any others done it?.......and any prospects in the youth teams?........

Sam Crabb did play for Old Town Boys as a youngster and then Towns Under 18 youth team for a couple of years. Evan Archibald also played some of his youth football at Eastbourne Town/ Old Town Boys. Not that well known but Zac Attwood played for Town youth for a couple of years 2005-2007, then went to the States and is now playing for Conference side Histon.

As there are no replies to my last question (re youth team players)I will take that as a no then ? Wouldn't the person to ask be our manager? For he surely must be watching other teams we have at the club like Ady often did ....... or am I under some misapprehension?

What misapprehension would that be?
You can't possibly be suggesting the first port of call for news of promising players at a club this size would be the first team manager, could you?
What little faith you must have in the individual team managers then......would they not know their own 'onions' best? They work with them week in week out.
Shouldn't the senior team manager have other managers reporting in regularly with news of promise or good performances in the first instance.......should the club manager not be able to trust a colleagues judgement on a players progress in the first place??......it's probably only a quick phone call and it would be the best and easiest way to progess players through the club from minor football into youth, youth into the reserves and reserves/youth into the front squad....provided the strategy is in place, it's not a difficult thing to achieve, is it?
.........and, do you not think the manager of the first team knows who is good or not......he doesn't live in a 'first team' bubble does he.......or am I under some misapprehension?

Come on you yellow, your right in what you say BUT it only works if the 1ST TEAM MANAGER IS INTERESTED and its quite clear that the 1st team manager isnt !!. He has had many opportunities to discuss come along to games etc try out players in friendlies etc but he has not even bothered. We have many exciting players at this club who do not feel apprieciated. so perhaps he should open his door and become more approachable perhaps we could then promote within and save the club money, instead of watching players we have trained come back and haunt us

I'm not an insider at the club but when Ady was here (I don't bring his name up intentionally) he regularly on Saturday Evenings after a First XI match at The Saffrons waited and spoke to the Reserve Team Manager on his return about any players who showed promise in the Reserves away match. That was a way, face to face over a pint, that he obtained and got a decent report on each Reserve player's performance . Of course you will immediately say that Ady turned out not to be a successful manager BUT somehow it reminds me of the same outcome for an unsuccessful team that you wished me to praise earlier in this thread!! I have also stood and talked to both Reserve and First Team Managers as they have stood together and watched Youth Team games during midweek to run the rule over young players. That to me displayed a togetherness at the club with it's best intentions in mind. As I said I am just a mere supporter now, but still have this club's best interests at heart........ALWAYS!!
