Town 7 Hailsham 0
Couldn't make it to the Saffs this afternoon. Wish I'd been there.......
Great result to ensure that the lads hold on to their lead at the top of the Reserve section Premier Division of the County League

Town were five up at half time due to some dire defending by Hailsham, plus a couple of superb chipped goals. The match was more even in the second half. Town had a player sent off about half way through but went on to score two more goals late on. An excellent win!

Let's rememeber that Eastbourne Town were without 7 or 8 players as well through holidays and injuries, I think that makes this result a little bit better, was good to see some younger players coming through.
Having run the line, the referee did explain to me that he had decided to send the player off before the reaction from the Hailsham players & management.
Top 2 in table; EASTBOURNE TOWN RES - 15 - 14 - 0 - 1 - 54 - 10 - +44 - 42 PAGHAM Res - 16 - 12 - 3 - 1 - 48 - 22 - +26 - 39
So, it's a 3 point lead at the top, game in hand and a far superior goal difference, still with Pagham to play twice the league is defo up for grabs now, and time for the boys to push on again.
Respect to Dale, Adrian, Patrick & The Lads for being in this position though

Yesterday was an impressive performance from a team of players who for many of them it was the first time that they had played as a team together. Also many thanks to the under 18s manager for helping the ressies by lending a couple of their players, shame the first team manager doesnt want to do the same. Still 3 points in front game in hand and all to play for

I was also impressed by some of the free flowing football our Reserve Side played. We keep on about the youngsters coming through the ranks, but let's not forget a player like 'Wilf' Holman, who has played a few years local football, yet still enjoys bringing that experience along to help out the younger players. Nice goal Saturday Wilf!!

I really enjoy watching the reserves and attend most of their home games. I noticed that the team on Saturday had several players I didn't recognise but I couldn't put names to faces. I know that attendances don't justify printing programmes but it would be very helpful if the reserve team lineups could be displayed on a board by the changing rooms, as is done with the first eleven. Just a thought.
