Eastbourne manager John Lambert has stated that his side will keep trying to avoid relegation all the time safety is possible and yesterday proved that to be the case. The first half was all Hythe attacking and Town somehow keeping a clean sheet, apart from one chance against the run of play when Liam Upton was denied by a good save. Fortunately after the interval Hythe appeared to tire against the young Town side bereft of both Billy Medlock(suspended) and Steve Elliott(injured). Hythe were a typical Kent side being strong and aggressive and able to out muscle the smaller Town players. The game changed on its head with 20 minutes to go when Dom Clarke was rewarded for his continually out jumping defenders all afternoon with a good goal from an excellent cross. Two minutes later Gregg Berry stretched his extremely long and young legs to outpace the visiting defence and beat the advancing goalie confidently to make it 2-0. In between all this excitement Town's loanee goalie from Brentford was booked for time wasting. This was his only mistake of the afternoon for, although looking very young, he showed that he could handle himself well enough against some rough treatment from corners and crosses.
Yesterday Crawley Down lost to Faversham but Redhill beat Walton and Hersham 3-2 with a 94th minute winner.
On Tuesday Three Bridges are home to Redhill and on Wednesday we are at home to Horsham where we hope to see another exciting episode of "The Great Escape"
