I was sad to hear that Danny Bloor had left the club recently but pleased to hear a new management team was appointed without much delay. The last three years have seen Town grow in strength and depth to the point of where striving for a play off place has been a realistic end of season target. I hear Matt Crabb, undoubtedly one of Towns best players last season, has joined Bloor at Lewes. How many more of the squad will follow him out of the club? If that happens my question is are we to see a return of seasons past where the team battle for survival with a mediocre squad or are we to see the new management team continue building on the relative success we have enjoyed over the last three seasons. By that I mean no end of season dog fights, young players being blooded in the first team and the calibre of players joining Town are quality players. I respect and admire what Ady Colwell did for the club in his last tenure and do not know anything of note about Kevin Laundon to comment. Is the new management team a winning combination that will sign players who can help the club progress and get the best out of those already at the club?

Interesting points you raise Bourneagain.
As I said on the previous thread, players tend to 'swarm' and it's highly likely that a good few will depart. Plus the new management team will want players they can work with.
I feel the era that has just ended was marked by quantity rather than quality as players came and went on a regular basis. The team was usually nearer the bottom of the league than the top, with relegation dog fights in 2 of the last 3 seasons.
What would you prefer, players of lesser ability but who would run through a brick wall for the manager, playing fast, sweeping, entertaining football ? Or players of greater ability, but questionable application, trying to pass the ball into the net ? I know what I'd choose !
The idea of challenging for promotion is a pipe dream. The budget isn't there, and even if despite that, promotion were achieved, the club obviously could never afford it. A lot of money would have to be spent on the ground to get it up to the required grade, before even thinking about a bigger playing budget and the increased travelling costs.
The reality is that whoever is in charge, the club has reached the ceiling. Half way up the league is the best that can be reasonably expected, so let's at least have some style, which hopefully the new duo can provide.

I haven't been on here since you debunked to somewhere else.....but then you've crept back under the radar.....proffering opinions on personalities, players, relationships, budgets, targets and a view on what's best for the Club.....what can be achieved .....and that you seem to be smirking at those that endeavour.....work.....volunteer and support......
I respect your position on having opinions but surely you might want to try to be a little more positive and much less melodramatic in your castigating virtually everyone and everything at Eastbourne Town......
Three things spring to my mind when I read your words......
1).....do you have ANY experience or knowledge whatsoever of putting together and running a Ryman League Club.....tell the truth!!!
2) Are you really a Borough spy??? If not, you surely can't came to our games.....I mean you surely don't, do you??
and 3) once the Panto season is over and the Grim Reaper costume goes away for another year.....what do you do for entertainment apart from write fiction on here......
Oh! I've just remembered something else I'd promised myself......I must stop wasting my time trying to show you the way.......enjoy your sausages......
COME ON YOU YELLOWS........

You have asked a few questions, some I suspect with tongue in cheek, which I will do my best to answer.
1) I have no experience of running a Ryman League club and neither I suspect have most who post on here. But since when was that a pre-requisite for voicing an opinion ? Why is this argument always put forward by those who disagree with another person's view ? My comments are based on what I see on the pitch, which is the final product of the club. It reflects the manager's input. If you like seeing players played out of position (eg Adam Davidson at full back, Danny Simmonds in central defence), if you like watching disinterested players frequently losing posssession, then Danny Bloor was your man. I, personally, do not, but I don't need experience running a club to know what I like to see on the park.
2) No, I am not a Borough spy. I admire what they achieved under Gary Wilson, but I have no affinity with them.
3) You mention entertainment. This is the crux as I have seen precious little of it at the Saffrons during the last 3 years. Ady Colwell always produced entertaining sides who played exciting football. Let's hope this happens again now that he is back, albeit in a different role.

You obviously didn't see Towns home games with the two top teams (Dulwich and Maidstone) last season if you were not entertained. Ady did an excellent job when he first took over and got the defence much tighter and disciplined. He was let down several times by players that didn't mind being booked or sent off week after week. Even with the best 11 players he had during his tenure I don't think they would have beaten Dulwich or withstood the pressure from Maidstone for 75 minutes.

I did not say there had been no entertainment, just not very much. You can always find the odd good performance. For example, I would cite Dulwich and Bognor from the previous season. But I would struggle to name many others.
I did not see the Dulwich game last season, and so can make no comment, although it was clearly an excellent result. As for the Maidstone game which I did see, I assume you are referring to the rearguard action necessitated after Sonny Cobbs saw red for a professional foul after about 5 minutes. Er, what was your point about players letting the manager down ?
And further, as regards discipline, I would cite Kai Bichard, a very bad tempered player on a collision course with every opponent and referee, who racked up several red cards. Yet he was picked regularly, when not suspended that was.
Undoubtedly Mr Bloor had excellent contacts and seemed able to bring in players almost at will. Yet he had no player with the skill of Brockwell, no striker with the instinct of Baitup, and no-one with the total commitment and effort of Putland or Cooper.
